“The interim results are in line with the Group’s expectations. As indicated in March, Ultra’s 2014 performance will be weighted towards the second half, principally reflecting constraints in the US defence procurement process at the start of the period. The Group has seen the positive effects of increasing stability in the US and UK defence markets, as evidenced by increased order placement towards the end of the first half. Ultra announces that its Ocean Systems business (UEOS), located in Massachusetts, USA has been awarded a three-year contract totalling over US$19m from the US Navy. The contract is for the production of the Naval Acoustic Electromechanical Beacon (“NAE Beacon”) expendable countermeasure and includes a base year and two additional options for 2015 and 2016. Ultra announces that it has acquired ICE Corporation Inc (“ICE”) based in Manhattan, Kansas for an initial cash consideration of $8.6m. Ultra has acquired ICE from private investors, which includes the original founder. All of the management team will stay with the business. ICE designs, develops, manufactures and supports aerospace products including, motor control electronics, electrothermal ice protection controllers, pneumatic valve controls and engine control interface units. Ultra, the international defence, security, transport and energy company, today issues its Interim Management Statement for the period 1 January 2014 to 29 April 2014. Ultra’s Annual General Meeting will be held today at 10.00 a.m. Overall, conditions in Ultra’s markets remain as noted on 3 March 2014 in the 2013 preliminary results announcement and expectations for the full year remain unchanged. During 2014 it is expected that US defence priorities will become clearer, improving the procurement process that currently remains subject to delays. Ultra continues to anticipate a greater second half weighting of defence orders and revenue than is typical. Go to page
