
When printing the same brochure or data sheet for both the North American and EMEA markets, valuable cost savings can be achieved by printing both from the same artwork.
This is achieved by setting up the artwork in such a way that it can be trimmed to either size after printing. The above example shows a brochure double page spread set up with a common side – in this case top – and common centre, allowing for trimming on the left hand, right hand and bottom edges to achieve US Letter and A4 versions.
Care should taken in the design to ensure that all text and important content of graphics fall within the area that is common to both sizes. You should ensure that the correct amount of bleed, where necessary, is allowed on the appropriate edges outside the overall trim area of 297 mm X 216 mm.
By setting up the artwork in this way, economies of scale are made by being able to print both sizes on the same sheet.
