For most items, usually 24 to 48 hours (excluding weekends and UK national holidays).
Review of web and intranet sites may take longer.
Q.
Are we required to incorporate preferential edits?
A.
Yes, though a debate can be had if there is a strong and valid reason why the edit should
not be incorporated.
Q.
Are there any rules on the use of watermarks?
A.
The use of the Ultra logo as a watermark not encouraged.
Q.
May we use fonts other than Arial Frutiger for external customer media (for example, User’s guide, Online help)?
A.
Except for PowerPoint presentations (see here), Arial and Frutiger are the only fonts that
should be used.
Q.
Is there a serif font that can be used? We would like to use a mix of serif and sans serif, particularly for long, printed documents. Is that allowed?
A.
The use of a serif font is not allowed. A decision at Group level was made – sometime ago – to not use a serif font.
The one exception is for documents with particularly large amounts of text such as Proposals, Agreements, etc., where the use a serif font for body copy will improve the readability.
The readily available serif font Times Roman is allowed for this use only.
A serif font should never be used in marketing brochures or data sheets.
Q.
Are the rules about JPGs, PNGs and so forth suggestions, or must we comply with
the specific format for the specific deliverable (for example, EPS for print, JPEG or
GIF for on-screen)?
A.
There are no specific rules, as this requirement is usually determined by the end application or your print/media supplier.
Q.
There is a rule about the logo never being smaller than 15 mm; does that mean, for example, that GUI developers should not use it in titlebars of user interface windows? What about as favicons in URLs?
A.
The 15 mm limited is for print applications, for web the absolute minimum width is 55 pixels.
The Ultra logo can be used as a favicon, an especially drawn version of the logo is available on request from Corporate.ID@ultraelectronics.com.
No other Ultra-approved favicons are available.
Q.
Where can we obtain the business name header artwork to ensure we are using the
proper version?
A.
Business name header artworks can be found/extracted from the relevant Quark Xpress, InDesign and Word downloads in the Literature section of this site.
Q.
Is there a corporate image library we can use as a resource?
A.
Not as such, but HaT Associates (designhat@aol.com) because of its involvement on projects such as the Annual Report & Accounts, the corporate brochure, etc., is often a good source for images. HAT may charge a fee for their services.
